„Fischerboot Potemkin“ Kevin Neuroth (2019) | “ … Rau und grobkörnig erzählt Mark Jenkin von der Gentrifizierung eines Küstendorfs in Cornwall – Mit Bait legt der selbst in Cornwall aufgewachsene Filmemacher Mark Jenkin ein ästhetisches, politisches und wirtschaftliches Zeitdokument vor. Die Arbeit zu dem experimentellen Schwarz-Weiß-Film begann zwar schon vor dem Brexit-Referendum im Juni 2016 – dennoch gewinnt Jenkins Darstellung von Klassenressentiments und dem Verfall traditioneller Industrien durch die politischen Entwicklung der letzten drei Jahre eine zusätzliche Dringlichkeit. Zugleich ist der mit niedrigstem Budget entstandene Film auch ein Zeugnis von künstlerischer Resilienz und Selbstbehauptung angesichts einer Austeritätspolitik, in deren Zuge in Großbritannien seit 2010 nicht zuletzt die Kulturförderung radikal zusammengestrichen wurde. Behind the scenes of BAIT – a feature film from Falmouth University Associate Lecturer Mark Jenkin. BAIT is the only British film to be selected for screening in the Forum strand of the Berlin International Film Festival 2019. Part crewed by Falmouth students and part-funded by the School of Film and Television – this film was shot on location in Charlestown and West Penwith, and hand processed on 16mm film using a sustainable and environmentally friendly process (involving instant coffee) in Mark’s Newlyn studio. |–> https://youtu.be/dUmytusPs40
