York based O U I Performance, founded in 2010, is a not-for-profit, artist-led organization curating live time-based performance.
O U I Performance aims to create a physical and conceptual space for new work in the city through the careful curation of performance events curated by and for performance artists. Facilitating an innovative programme of regular events, O U I Performance commissions new work by local, national and international artists. We are committed to developing live performance practice on a local level that is recognized and represented nationally and internationally.
Responding to a lack of sustainable infrastructure for contemporary time-based practice O U I Performance will support non-commercial and experimental arts practice. Fostering a growing culture of criticality and discourse O U I Performance will identify York as a centre for contemporary performance in the U.K.

David Helbich (*Berlin 1973) - artist; studied composition and philosophy in Amsterdam and in Freiburg/D; lives and works since 2002 in Brussels. He created various experimental works on stage, on page, online and in public space.
His trajectory moves between representative and interactive works, pieces and interventions, between conceptual work and actions. A recurrent interest is the understanding of an audience as active individuals and the search for an opening up of experiences in an artistically restricted space.
