DIY Synth Projects
« on: July 26, 2011, 10:50:28 PM »
I'm a huge fan of the work of Robert Moog (pronounced like "rogue"), who was one of the most important innovators in the field of electronic sound synthesis.  Sadly he passed away in 2005.  One of his most significant contributions was the synthesizer depicted below -- the "Minimoog Model D".  This synthesizer defined the basic method that synthesists would use to create electronic music for the next 40 years. Using the original schematics, I'm learning electronics engineering one circuit at a time with the end goal being the creation of a working "Minimoog-like" synthesizer.

"Ich verfüge über fast 20 Jahre Erfahrung in der Entwicklung von Schaltungen in Analog- wie auch Digitaltechnik. Diese Kenntnisse und mein Interesse an der “elektronischen” Musik und ihrer Instumente, war auch der Auslöser sich mit der Herstellung von hochwertigen Analog Synthesizern und anderen Geräten zu beschäftigen..."

MIDI expander with old ISA-BUS soundcard

MIDI expander with old ISA-BUS soundcard.
Based on micro PIC18F4320, this circuit makes possible to realize a small MIDI expander using an old ISA-BUS soundcard. Tested on 2 different cards, it should work for any card ADLIB OPL3 compatible (the I/O address MUST be 0x388). The software (in this first release) responds to MIDI commands on Channel 1. The sounds are generated by the FM synthesizer built in the soundcard.

Dintree - Synth DIY
Here are some DIY synth projects, complete with schematics and code where applicable. All the projects here are for learning and hobby use and are strictly for NON-COMMERCIAL USE ONLY. Please respect my time in designing these circuits and code. All attempts are made to provide accurate information but some tweaking might be needed. If you have specific questions you can email me, but keep in mind that I can't answer general electronics or synth questions, and I can't sell you parts, kits, boards, or help you program your microcontroller. If you ask me these things your message will be deleted. Ask questions like this on the forums or search on Google. ...
