Wer einen ungefähren atmosphärischen Eindruck davon bekommen will, wo einst die Geschichte von Buback Tonträger begann, muss am Hamburger Fischmarkt in eine kleine Seitenstraße einbiegen. Hier, in der Buttstraße 50, wenige Gehminuten entfernt vom Golden Pudel Club und der Hafenstraße, befand sich die Keimzelle des Labels: eine Wohngemeinschaft, in der bis zu sieben Leute lebten, von denen wiederum maximal vier teilweise gleichzeitig dieses Kleinst-Unternehmen betrieben. Der Charme, den diese Straße einmal ausstrahlte, erschließt sich heute allerdings kaum noch, denn die Gegend ist im Zuge städtebaulicher Modernisierung arg verschandelt worden. Ale Dumbsky, einer der WG-Genossen, gründete Buback Tonträger hier im Jahre 1987. Er spielte damals bei den Goldenen Zitronen, ebenso wie Ted Gaier, ein anderer Musiker aus diesen Räumen, der das Label anfangs mitbetrieb. "Wir waren so‘n paar Spinner, die die Wohnung zum öffentlichen Raum gemacht haben", sagt Dumbsky heute ohne jede Abschätzigkeit. Die Gründung von Buback resultierte, ein seltener Fall in der Geschichte der Independent-Labels, aus dem Gefühl, im relativen Luxus zu leben. ...

Weil Labels dann effizient werden, wenn sie es schaffen wenigstens ein paar hundert CDs oder Platten zu verkaufen, was im Independentbereich nicht immer gewährleistet ist. SCOPIA est très heureux de s'associer à Vadim music pour la réédition tant attendue d'une des bandes originales les plus culte de tous les temps, l'envoûtant Les Gants Blancs du Diable. Cette oeuvre essentielle du génial compositeur allemand Karl Heinz Schäfer s'offre enfin à vous sous ses plus beaux atours, avec au choix une version limitée en vinyle reprenant fidèlement le fabuleux design original, ou une version CD agrémenté d'une biographie inédite de Schäfer.
Cette biographie inespérée est basée sur un entretien téléphonique que j'ai eu avec un des plus fidèles compagnons et collaborateurs du compositeur allemand, le musicien Jean-Louis Bucchi. Grâce à lui et à sa précieuse mémoire le parcours de Schäfer sort enfin des oubliettes du temps.
En complément de cette biographie et de manière à contenter les plus curieux d'entre vous, je publierai d'ici peu l'intégralité de cette interview dans la section "Portrait" de Scopia. Patience.
Justice sera enfin partiellement rendu à une personnalité discrète mais néanmoins essentielle de la musique de film et du rare groove dont l'oeuvre unique mérite amplement une place de choix à côté des meilleurs travaux de Michel Colombier, Jean-Claude Vannier ou Alain Goraguer.
